Which is most important, Content or Design?

Is the content of your website - those words that sit in your design - the most important element of your website, or is the design that holds your content more important?

It can be a toss-up because if your design is not appealing, pleasing and inviting, if it does not speak volumes by its mere presence, if it is pale instead of bold, if it lacks professionalism, the content may be passed over for a website with a more commanding presence. And thousands of dollars, hours of design work, and trials over the "right blue" or "deepest red" will be for not.

However, if your website does not contain content relative to the search terms and phrases used to find someone with your expertise, your site may never be found.
